My love affair: Dolce & Gabbana FW12

A huge portion of sceptic has been there, when Dolce & Gabbana were close to release their latest collection for the F/W season of this year after shutting down their daughter line D&G. I expressed all my sadness in this post here and so the curiosity of how the latest collection will look like was of a huge extent (and ultimately how the designer duo has incorporated the young, fresh D&G spirit into the more mature, serious mother line). Oh boy, how they made it!
When I already saw the first image of Bianca Balti wearing the very first outfit, I knew: This is going to be worth writing a whole post about it. "YES YES YES", my inner voice screamed as I clicked through everything and as I just rarely have these moments, inspiration has overfilled my brain and so I'm sitting here typing these words down at the moment.
Golden embellishments purfle the rich, dark gowns and are accompanied by finest accessories. With a great love to detailing, the jewellery as well as headbands fulfill the perfection of this collection. It seems as if each piece being combined with others builds an old, mangificent canvas of a former queen or goddess. Pompous, voluminous and always with an edgy touch, Dolce and Gabbana seems to be the answered to McQueen in Italian and meanwhile kept their personal note of the typical D&G image. Coming just rarely across such a variety of pieces and themes, the duo has started off with a dark, royal touch fading into some lighter tones and hitting the typical Dolce white-meets-gold spot and the flowerprint we seem to keep in the colder times of the year. Transparency and lace play the decisive factor of sexiness and meanwhile maintain a style that only the Italian label can perfectly pull on the runway.
For me, there are three stages of the collection: The dark, mysterious, queenly part, the lighthearted, young D&G spirit (reinforced by the shirts presenting the slogan and being combined to playful pieces) and a final  mixture of the contradictory mature but then again young clash of mother and daughter line. Being still not convinced of the flowerprint (it takes a while.. stay patient), I must say that I would wear each one of these pieces presenting the floral pattern hype of the year. White or black - it doesn't matter. The order and clear structure of how each flower has been placed on the different pieces enables the possibility of wild patterns still being able to be restrained to a certain kind of symmetry and balance. Romantic but with a self confident statement, the pattern is accompanied by my lovely lace and the golden jewellery enriching the young stylings with maturity and elegance.
There is nothing left to say, then leaving you with these images. I want everything!
Bravo!

London Fashion Week, Day 3

Whenever you think you've reached the maximum of happiness a day can give you, you will be surprised what the next one offers. At least this was yesterday's case, when I was once again dancing around at Somerset House and just couldn't believe how many cool people can get together "just" for some days. Together with Elina from Imperfect Perfectionista and Gentiana from Stimulate It, we had a really good time. I bumped into Yvan whom I haven't seen since Berlin Fashion Week 2 years ago and Gentiana got the chance to be photographed by The Facehunter himself. Besides from Yvan, we spotted Florence Welch from Florence and the Machine and someone who quite looked similar to Mrs. Westwood herself. I also got shot by Phil Goddard, a very nice photographer to whom I will dedicate a separate post the upcoming days, as well as I got photographed by Adam Katz Sinding for a second time.
As I already twittered yesterday evening, I realised that Diane Pernet was right behind the photographers who took pictures of me at that moment - and guess what! I just saw this when I started editing all the pictures on the camera last night. That's what I call a typical fail. How could I not see her!?! Still pissing me off a little. (+ as I was stalking on Twitter, Mrs. Pernet is staying at my absolute favourite hotel here in London, the St. Martins Lane... I should maybe consider to go insane and book a table for tonight at the Asia De Cuba, which is located at St. Martins Lane).
I just don't have any other words for this day than just saying that I totally enjoyed it. I'm blessed to live in such an amazing city and be surrounded by all these people, especially my personal photographer who never gives up on me no matter how grumpy and bitchy I am (sometimes huh ;)).

Yesterday, I thought about pulling some trousers after I was freezing off enough the day before in my splashy, catchy dress from Topshop. Therefore, I picked my trousers by Zara (and put on some tights beneath.. what a clever tactic) together with some rather low keyed items like my black fury friend and a simple black ensemble. I always had that vision of putting on my old Guess shoes to this trousers and so they once again had their big time at Fashion Week. The silky material of my leo trousers added that more elegant twist and meanwhile built a little contrast to the wild pattern. To reinforce that little ladylike twist, I took my hat by H&M, which I just wore once so far, and my beloved Vintage cat eyed shades.

London Fashion Week, Day 2

Where to start with that day? First thing I need to say straight at the beginning of this post: This was one of the coolest days I had in a long time.
It all started off in the morning with my newly bought dress and the question what to combine to it. Unique and purely wild (for my personal styling preferences), it perfectly mixes up the next season's definite trends: Fluo, mixed floral print and the slight note of elegance. Although I never tried such a look on myself before (as some might have noticed, I rather keep it calm and classy), I must admit that I absolutely enjoyed playing with this new way of styling myself. Somehow this dress reminded me a lot of a typical Anna Dello Russo look.
The loud tones of the dress perfectly matching my latest Zara goody are reinforced by the rather simple, black jacket and accessory details. I thought that my leather jacket could be a cool contrast to the dress and enhanced by the old, beloved fur jacket (oh man, you little thing help me out every time I'm dress-panicking).
Again, I met the craziest people around and just got overwhelmed by the atmosphere. It seems as if motivation streams up my veins (my metaphorical outbreak of the morning) every time I get the chance to find myself in a place like Fashion Week or just surrounded by people craving for similar goals in the same industry. The arrogance of some very important (please take this as cynical as possible) fashion personalities (and some day I will write about this ridiculous behaviour) just got overturned by the kindness the other side of the publicity over there and so I got the chance to pose for some really really cool people.
I will publish a separate feature of the various streetstyles I spotted the upcoming days. For now I leave you with these impressions and head to my last day at LFW for this season.

London Fashion Week, Day 1

Not exactly London Fashion Week's day 1 but actually my very first day spent at Somerset House during this amazing time in the city.
So many different, inspiring and simply crazy people on a relative "small" spot (the whole inner courtyard & the hugest terrace of Somerset House) were literally overwhelming and somehow a little overstraining. I loved the atmosphere, the hectic rush but at the same time just looking around and seeing how different people from various countries and ethnicities mix up their lifestyles with fashion. Surely (and how could it be different for London's fashion week?!) there were loads and loads of celebrities and as I tried my best in spotting them before everybody else did (which was impossible), I just got one usable picture of Alexa Chung. I just love the way she combined her simply cut dress to these lace tights.
For this day I chose something more understatement, yet tried to cool it up with a black on black combination. Together with the golden zipper details, I tried to keep the balance between the classy jacket and the leather look alike trousers. They somehow throw in a casual and cool twist to the more elegant and chic jacket and the rather soft lace top.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to stay for longer than1 1/2 hours but I'm just about to rush off to my second (LFW's 4th) day over there and will promise to share the outfit I chose for it today (be prepared for a lot of colours... which you just rarely saw on me before).

(and don't think the weather was that warm over here... it's actually FREEZING and I wait to pay the prize for it.. again).

Lace Shirt: Zara
Leather look alike trousers: Zara
