Goodbye 2011!

Life has taught me a lot this year. Just like last year. And the year before. And all the years before that year.
Moving from Maastricht to Cologne to London was one of the most exciting things I was able to experience in 2011. Especially the last move was the best one I could have done to myself. Although it felt a little bit like homecoming to this impulsive city, it was also the chance to start from another beginning. Without my parents, without any assurance that things will turn out to be good. But how they did: This time, everything seems to be good just the way it is. It just fits in every sense. I think this is something that just rarely happens, so I better appreciate it rather than complain about all the little things in between, that made me upset from time to time.
I'm blessed with the best parents, true friends and I got the chance to gain some new ones who enrich my life. While some times turned out to be harder than others, the most important thing should be to appreciate them. Easier said than done, I know.
If there was an award to dedicate to one person year after year, I knew to whom I would dedicate mine. Larissa is definitely my person of this year and one of the most amazing people I came across in my life so far.  I don't want to miss any conversation with her. This was the first time after 8 years that I didn't spend Christmas together with her and I just terribly missed it. She's one of those kind of people you rarely get to know - self-confident, direct, honest, full of humour and above all: loyal. I love and miss you!
I hope everyone had a good year and will even have a better 2012!

Blue Velvet

On the 26th of December, I decided to go for another absolute lovely material. Velvet. I always associate it with another festive moment and since the second Chrimstas day still counts as such an occasion, I thought of this jacket bought at Reiss years ago. Sadly, the pictures couldn't really capture it perfectly.
As a contrast, I mixed it up with my half-leather trousers.

Jacket: Reiss
Trousers: Ted Baker (once again)
Top: H&M

Christmas Outfit 2011

Last year, I pulled an outfit inspired by Miu Miu's fall collection 2010. This year (although I'm still not a huge Christmas-fan),  I thought I'd go for a lace dress and pull my hair strictly back. To me, lace is a material, which always fits for a festive occasion - elegant, beautiful yet sexy.
Hope you all had a good time.

Michael Kors Pre-Fall 2012

photocredit: style.com
Is it me who gets paranoid over time of hard work or is it just true that Michael Kors seems to be a little copycat? Surely, each single designer has his/her own vision. This creative thought that leads to the final outcome of a collection. But taking a closer look at Kors’ Pre-Fall for the next year, the only source of inspiration I can see is clearly coming from McQueen.
Not that I would dare to put Kors and McQueen into one file but how do McQueenish details and McQueenish signatures appear in a Kors-collection if not for a pure copy-cat-intention?  I’ve always been a great fan of Kors. Young, cool, yet absolutely established. But why designing exactly similar details and using similar (if not the same) elements and materials like Burton has done?
Okay, I understood: Broad belts and long back with a short front for dresses and skirts seem to hit next year’s trends even more. I also got that lace and leather don’t seem to go out of fashion. But what is it with those suspiciously similar long fury skirts, and S&M details? Was that needed? If you’d ask me personally.. I’d say no. Yeah, nice and fine designs. Just not really hitting my heart. A little cute, a little sexy, a little lame, a little repetitive.
Come on, Kors… you can do better than that

CIRQUE EN FLUO

Not being the typical raver type of person, the surprise of La Monday's theme party at Cirque Du Soir was huge. The fact that I'm as light-skinned as a firefly in the darkness made me definitely a matching visitor.
Whenever your expectations are low ... it turns out to be an amazing night.
