Retail Therapy!

"RETAIL THERAPY is shopping with the primary purpose of improving the buyer's mood or disposition. Often seen in people during periods of depression or transition, it is normally a short-lived habit. Items purchased during periods of retail therapy are sometimes referred to as "comfort buys".

Primary purpose = improving the buyer's mood/disposition?  Yes + seeing it as a reward of working hard.Very hard. Last week was a mess. A disaster. A burning hell. That's why we decided to send ourselves on a retail therapy yesterday.
Was it a period of depression or transition? Temporary, yes. Especially when we just slowly approached the 6000 words of our essay.
But is that really a short-lived habit? Is Wikipedia right? As an ex-IB & ordinary university student I know that most of the time it's not. And so it isn't with that statement. Whoever that crap wrote, must be a complete loser ... or someone who doesn't know how, where and when to shop. Period.
Quite frankly, I'm feeling absolutely better although it felt like World War 3 broke out at at Oxford Circus yesterday. People where just EVERYWHERE. Not that I'm not used to that on normal days but as Christmas is just four weeks ahead (OMG let's get all excited like idiots), it felt as if people get something for free in every shop. I just love being forced to nearly QUEUE down my way to Selfridges & Co just because parents with ugly babies & nerve wrecking buggies (bumping me and my boots from behind...my excitement was just semi-high), old people and tourists with no clue where to go decided to use this Saturday as a shopping/family/stand-in-Anna's-way-day.
Having had some "comfort buys"? Yes. Definitely. Feeling better now? Oh yes!
Plus, that guy is talking about "periods of retail therapy" ...is he/she (but I doubt a "she") really thinking that he can call this easily just a "period"? How long would you consider this period to last? According to my personal statistics (retrieved from me, my friends, me & me), I can tell that this lasts for approximately 17 years now(not considering the first three years as valid because let's face it: In the age of 6 months to 3 years you're just not yet ready to decide on that Jacadi dress or those Baby Dior blouses your mum pulls you in).

"Researchers at Melbourne University have advocated its classification as a psychological disorder called ONIOMANIA or compulsive shopping disorder.

Oh my god! Does that mean we are all suffering from ONIOMANIA? Are we seriously victims of this sickness without knowing it? Is there some helpline to call? Is there anything I can do about it? Am I getting pregnant from this? Is it  something bad? Could I die? Will God forgive me?
So many questions popping up my mind when mocking this funny definition. The only thing I can think about when seeing the word ONIOMANIA is my love to onions.

Have a nice Sunday, oniomania-victims. Hope we will survive. Or at least try to live with it.
