It's been a little bit more than one week now that I finally moved to London. I'm going to spend at least three years here and I just can't believe how I stood the boredom back in Germany/the Netherlands the whole last year. So many different cultures, people and styles .. London appears to me like the epicentre of what other cities try to be: Cosmopolitan. There's just nothing you can compare to the capital of UK. I already feel home here and I hope that half of the things work out the way I expect it to be (which rarely works in a city full of so many people and therefore full of competition).
I already spent my second Saturday at touristic Portobello Market in Notting Hill and I just love it. I can't help it.. I guess most "real Londoners" (whoever that might be.. and if I ever get the chance to meet one I will surely share that on my blog) would avoid it due to the massive crowd of people searching for some antiques and cheap clothing but I still keep on going there from time to time.
Besides attending the average uni introduction stuff, I also went to Sketch again, which I've been visiting a looong loooong time ago... and now I know again why. The whole setting is great and while going to the bathrooms you get the impression of finding yourself in an ufo again. But besides from this (and loud but cool music which doesn't really allow you to get into a deeper conversation) I have to admit that neither the service nor the food has changed. Unfriendly and average. It disappoints me over and over again to sit in such a crazy restaurant/bar and see how the service tries to mess it up with thier sloppy attitude. Nothing against the French but: When you're working as staff, you should keep it rather low to your guests (and being stuck up shouldn't be charged to your service either).
Overall, I can say that the price performance ratio is by far not in an acceptable range but since I had a great evening thanks to the lovely people surrounding me, I'm nice enough to leave Sketch as "a bar you go to from time to time" ... or as a place to use the bathrooms ...
