Moschino Cheap & Chic SS11

I'm SO sick of this weather and I can't keep up with the attitude "ok while it's snowing and cold and everything but nice outside, I'll post about pre-fall". After trying this for two days, I give up! I have to post something, which makes me dream of the upcoming summer again and which is colorful and nice to look at. So what about Moschino Cheap & Chic? It's the perfect eyecatcher these days to get my mood and way to dress up and meanwhile avoids me from becoming an emo with suicide-thoughts. A palette of colours were scattered over the beautiful collection by Rosella Jardini and although I always consider myself being not the colorful-dressing type of person, I really would like to have some pieces of this collection. By keeping the cuts and combinations simple, Moschino maintained its class and meanwhile added some freshness with color combinations like black and yellow (very strong), pure pink and gold/turquoise or lovely prints. I can't think of anything more summerish than corals or lemons on ones dresses/shorts/blouses/whatever and although I'd never thought about wearing such prints, they seem really tempting for the upcoming season.

My absolute favourite is the black and white combination in form of plaided shorts and a white jacket with buttons that couldn't be more coltish and maidenly but still classy. Another  piece, which landed on the like-list is definitely the lemon-printed dress.

I hope that I'm soon able to transform all the inspiration I got from that collection into an outfit without freezing or getting a cold.

Leila Shams SS11 - siamese horses, owls & an albino gator

Thanks to stopitrightnow.blogspot.com, I stumbled over Leila Sham's upcoming spring/summer collection, which again (and don't ask why) consists of a lot of prints. This time it's not about food, but about animals and although I would never wear a dress with an albinogator on top, it caught me. It really did. It's far away from any beauty but maybe it's this ugly something that makes it so special. In case you're not a fan of such an animal, the face of an owl as well as a very feather-focused skirt can be a brilliant alternative. And if you discover that you are a fan of horses, well then you might go for the "siamese horse dress". To be honest; the only thing I'd seriously consider to buy would be the featherskirt. Although I've never had something against horses, owls, peacocks or aligators, I have to admit that my love for animals printed somehwere on clothes doesn't reach that far. Everything which concerns skins and furs of the sweeties would be another issue... ;)

When I had a look on openingceremony.us and clicked through everything, I had to stop by at Christopher Kane. At first my thought was something like 'wtf' but when I looked at his collection for a bit longer I wasn't that sure what to think about that sky-spectacle on clothes. On the one hand it catches me and looks impressive but then on the other hand there is my sense for fashion and it tells me "No way. If you would wear something like that you a) threw a thousand of dollars just out of the window because b) it looks ridiculous and therefore you would look buried instead of just celestial". No doubt, the dresses have something which makes them interesting to me, may it only be the print itself, but do we really need to play the galactic girl when we want to wear a nice dress? Right now, I'm double-minded but the more I look at the dresses and think about where the hell I could wear one of them, the less I get a clue. 

But if (and this thought is really just taken out of the blue) I'd had money to buy something just for fun if the price is something really sweet like $1,025.00, then I'd probably take either the Princess Skirt SK63A (because a skirt is surely better to combine when it has a print like that one) or Jersey Rah Rah Dress - Star/Hubble-DR348A. Good that these thoughts are just shared here and not with reality and my bank account. 

Very Versailles, Wildfox.

Once upon a time...

...an American label named "Wildfox" decided to design some really nice shirts with some catchy prints and fabulous models wearing them in their ads...

And each season there is a new, recognizable topic I start to love the second I see it somewhere popping up  at a fashion page. Next year's spring/summer seems like Wildfox has brought Marie Antoinette to life again, which made me kind of going crazy in front of my laptop. How can one not love that historical Icon?! I mean, let's face it: Since Sophia Coppola has brought us Marie Antoinette's life into the cinemas, there had to remain at least some trickles of her...eccentric character and her way of life in our minds.

Personally, I like that campaign most - not at least because I also begin to think that I was Marie Antoinette in my last life while looking at my current mobile phone bill (yeah, nothing to be proud of).

Anyways, I love the new ad and it definitely expresses the modern way of how Marie Antoinette's life would be (which is, at the end of the day, not that different from her life back in the 18th century) : Sexy, wasteful, extravagant and always with that little bad girl - touch.

Bags, Purses, Clutches SS2011

Alexander McQueen 

I don't know exactly why but I somehow fell in love with the colour orange for the upcoming summer we couldn't think of right now since we are already talking about next year's fall/winter. However, here are some of my favourite accessories for spring/summer 2011, which I add to my virtual wishlist in case I rob a bank someday or I'm winning at a lottery. 

So, what do I think of when I talk about accessories for the summer? 

Obviously, I think of some hot clutches like those by McQueen either in black leather with its Union Jack and the remarkable skull on top or alternatively the golden one with the knuckle-duster on top, which I just LOVE (knock-out fred and this clutch would become good friends in my assortment!). 

Moreover the clutch by Jimmy Choo seems so McQueenish (and therefore simply adorable) and coming back to my meanwhile favourite colour of the summer, I fell completely in love with Marc Jacobs' clutches, either in pure orange (also available in brown) or the one combined with pink. ("Whoever said orange was the new pink was seriouly disturbed" is from now on considered to be "Legally Blonde" - I love this little colour explosion).

Burberry Prorsum SS2011

As Paris Fashionweek kicked off, McQueen, Balmain & Co. do not seem to be the only ones who've revealed their favour for animalprint/skins and studded stuff. Burberry Prorsum appears to me to be one of the remarkable labels mixing old-traditioned classic with the upcoming season’s details. Past meets future in a fresh, sometimes punky but always classic-kept way.

Where the beloved trenchcoat seems to be the base as an instrument of the past and tradition, Christopher Bailey interprets it in futuristic terms giving it leatherdetails, the aforementioned studs and broad belts in funky colours and outstanding animalskins like the one of a python.

Moreover he somehow shares the same thought as Decarnin for Balmain, who has already brought the astronautic leather-trousers back to the runway and therefore back to the upcoming summer season. I still can’t admit myself being a lover of this way too much futurism-trousers, but I guess that I can accept it as being an essential part of 2011’s summer.

Silk also plays a role and it seems like this drapery never goes out of a season to some extent. If nested, combined to hot beige-toned leather jackets (which really remind me of the classic Belstaff-jackets) or in quillings – I guess everything turns out to be fine with me.

Where contradictions personally appear to be not always that well solved, I have to admit that Christopher Bailey has met my taste and even broaden it by bringing me off from the sometimes way too classy thought of a trenchcoat and Burberry itself in general. 

McQueen SS2011

Wer hätte es gedacht?! McQueen lebt und zwar in Form von Sarah Burton.

Die ehrenwürdige Nachfolgerin des verstorbenen McQueen hat sich meiner Meinung nach mehr als behauptet gegen all die Zweifel und Kritik, die sie wohl mehr oder weniger erwarten musste. 

Anfänglich mit eher schlichten Kreationen ihrer SS11 Kollektion, hat sie sich von Model zu Model bis hin zum am Ende bestehenden Klimax hin mit immer gewagteren und vor allem typisch mcqueen-artigen Kreationen in mein Gedächtnis eingeprägt. 

Als hätte McQueen persönlich ein Auge auf seine Nachfolgerin gehabt, begeistert Burton mit pompösem Floralprint, Samt, Federkreationen und typischen McQueen-Heels, die mich extrem an die SS10 Kollektion erinnern. Besonders die mit einem Schmetterling besetzten Heels zeigen Elemente der „Atlantis“ (SS10). 

Ein Mix aus edlen sowie königlichen Samthosenanzügen/Kleider und Elementen aus Stroh lassen Queen Elizabeth die I. und das Erntedankfest aufeinanderprallen und geben der Kollektion das erwartete, ausgefallene Etwas. Schmetterlinge, mit gold versehene Blumenranken, die das Model gewagt umschlingen und übertrieben zusammengestellte Fasanenfedern, die sich zu einem Rock zusammenstellen sind besonders auffallende Details. 

Es erscheint mir fast wie ein "tribute to Alexander McQueen", das sich da auf der Fashionweek zusammengebraut hat. Schmetterlinge, die Art der High Heels und Fasanfedern sowie Floraldruck sind alles Elemente, die McQueen die letzten Jahre über aufleben hat lassen und die jetzt zusammen stilvoll abgestimmt in eine Kollektion übernommen wurden. Die Kunst dabei nicht den  negativen "Hab-ich-doch-schonmal-gesehen"-Effekt hervorzurufen machen Sarah Burton zu einer Nachfolgerin, die mit Recht unter dem Label McQueen ihre Kreativität ausüben darf. 

What happened to Balmain? SS11, Pfui!

Mit Beginn der Pariser Fashionweek habe ich täglich einem der best geglaubten Designer unserer Zeit hingefiebert und was muss ich da erleben? Persönliche, bittersüße Enttäuschung.

Moonwashed-artige 4/8 Jeans, Mit Sicherheitsnadeln verzierte Ledercorsagen und unspektakuläre Tanktops präsentieren sich da für den kommenden Sommer 2011 bei Mr. Decarnin. 
4/8 Jeans - ok. Ledercorsagen mit Sicherheitsnadeln - lass ich mir einreden (auch wenn es nuttig wirken kann). Aber was sollen diese batikartigen Blusen, diese 0815 Hotpants und rip-it-yourself Netzstrumpfhosen? Und überhaupt: Was hat Decarnin dabei eigentlich gedacht? Hat er sich in einen Punker versetzt, der heimliche Hippiegedanken hat?!

Einst bekannt durch die unverwechselbaren, sexy Kleider ist diese Kollektion ja wohl eher ein schlechter Scherz. Abgesehen von den ab und zu auftauchend annehmbaren Lederjacken, die im typischen (!) Balmainlook sind, würde ich den Sommer 2011 (würde es nach Decarnin gehen) lieber ausfallen lassen. Sollen wir uns etwa bei Klimaerwärmung, gefühlten 35° & Co. in spacige Hosen zwängen, die eher einen Raumschiffaufenthalt als ein schickes, sommerliches und sexy Outfit ankündigen?! Was sollen eigentlich überhaupt diese shiny Elemente? Soll das etwa ein zukünftiges Kennzeichen für Tussis und Freudenmädchen sein!? Oder etwa für die Damen über 30, die „forever young“ bleiben wollen?!

Hat doch Decarnin nicht schon in seiner letzten Kollektion bewiesen, dass er irgendwie nicht ganz bei der Sache war als er uns damals Cookiemonster-artige Jacken und mittelalterlichen Gardinen präsentiert hat und uns diese für den jetzigen Herbst/Winter verkaufen wollte. Aber das hier ist echt die Krönung. Als könnte man nicht selbst ein Lederhöschen irgendwo kaufen, sie mit Sicherheitsnadeln verunstalten und mit rot-weißter Farbe Buchstaben draufprinten. Nicht dass ich so geschickt wäre das selbst zu machen aber ich bin mir sicher, dass der ein oder andere mit ein bisschen mehr Kreativität und Geschicklichkeit das hinbekommt. Dann noch schnell ein billiges, rotes Tanktop mit dem man Öl wechselt und hofft, dass besonders viel aufs Shirt selbst geht (für den ganz dreckigen Style :D) und tada: „The Balmain-Look“, der bis jetzt von so vielen immer gepriesen wurde. Und jetzt soll mir doch mal jemand erklären dass das noch cool sein soll. 
Persönlich halte ich ja sowieso nicht viel von diesem wasted-punkigen Look (jedem das seine) aber dem hier kann ich wirklich NICHTS abgewinnen. Sogar die bis jetzt immer (!) auffallenden Schuhe sind unglaublich durchschnittlich, langweilig und glatt mit meinen billigen Zaratretern zu verwechseln... . 

Hat die Fashionwelt den französischen Gott zerstört? Will er jugendlich wirken und denkt er, dass diese dem Untergang geweiht ist, indem sie alle abgefuckt aussehen und sich wie eine Kreuzung von abgedrehten Alternativos und langweiligen Punks kleiden!? Ich kann es mir nicht erklären. Schade, dass ich ihn das nicht selbst fragen kann und das wohl auch nicht in absehbarer Zukunft werde.... ...aber interessieren würde mich das ja schon, wie man auf so langweilige Dinge kommt, wenn man doch eigentlich für die außergewöhnlichen Kleider, die extravaganten Schuhe und dem overall unverwechselbaren Look hinter einem einst aufregenden Label steht.  

Das war dann (wiedermal) nichts. Schade schade Schokolade.
