Flowers & Corals

With the flower pattern trend reaching up to the peak this season, I couldn't help but to improvise it myself. Although I'm a little more careful since I still couldn't find any floral mix that I'd love to have all over my legs, top or anywhere else, I remembered this jacket I used to love when I was about 14. Once belonging to my mum, I never stopped simply adoring it for its material and the way it was designed. Velvet (one of the chicest and comfortable components you could get for a blazer) and another way of letting flowers decorate the piece make it unique and meanwhile add the typical Paul Smith twist to it. Being famous for his colourful designs, Smith has done an absolutely chic way of predicting and transforming an up-and coming trend. Although one most probably doesn't find me in such colours quite often, I still like this compostion. Coral is one of my absolute evergreenes and shows that soft tone, which the current pastel-colour-thing tries to do so hard. As some might have recognised, I did this post about the whole pastel hype and how much I just don't get the intention of some girls wearing it (to get a long story short: Super pale girls like me should stay away from pastels). However, and as already mentioned in the pastel-post, I additionally remembered my old sweater (which I fondly described as that kind of colour I get during turbulences in a plane), which just perfectly matches to same greenish-grayish kind of the flowers on Smith's jacket. I can't clearly describe this kind of colour but to let it sound a little more fashionable and charming I'd call it a slight wannabe-pastel-but-remaining-low-keyed-and-NOT-candy-glossy-looking green. Perfectly matching to the coral, I combined these beautiful earrings made of corals, I just recently purchased.

I was in the mood for something more comfy yet not too casual just to find out that comfy can be really cold if the wind strives through London streets harshly than I ever experienced it before. Having Mondays and Tuesdays off gave me a very calm Welcome Back and therefore I decided to go on a little shopping tour (not really successful I can tell).

This dress is almost 2 years old and I still love it. Although it already represents that summer attitude, it still builds a cool contrast with the black grounding yet remains the romantic note of flowers mixed up with paisley (one of my evergreen patterns) and that slight quilling at the end.

I originally wanted to go for a pink nail polish, then decided to put on my lately purchased golden-green shimmerish one. Think this was a good idea.

Just came back to London yesterday and discovered that the weather is not as it was expected. While I spent some semi-sunny times in Zürs/Lech and Salzburg (more sunny times over there), I thought that at least my city would be in some spring-mood. But no. Gatwick Airport welcomed me with heavy rain and luggage that gained approximately another 20 kg after I sent it off, which let me change my clothes the moment I entered my four walls (as I once said - leaving the tube & feeling as I just left the rain forest behind). 

That's why I spontaneously put on my very casual look to do all the things you're expected to do when nobody cared about your place the past two weeks (including cleaning, washing, first try-outs of ironing, feeling like a real desperate housewife while discovering that my favourite grocery store closed already... all these kind of things - totally feeling like a grownup ;)).

First thing to start off this Saturday morning: Introducing The Fashion Robot by Kim Braun. 

Kim, 21, was born in Hanover and currently lives in London planning her career in the fashion industry. I truly like her blog & as she asked me for a vice versa blog introduction, I was more than happy to do so. Her style is unique (love this mixture!), her blog diverse. Dealing with her daily looks, photography, traveling and her life, Kim fairly plays her part in the blogosphere. Talking with her about herself, her favourite places in London, inspiration and German fashion, here's the final outcome. 

When did you start your blog & why? 

When I was 16 years old I started my first fashion blog about new fashion trends but I had no idea how I get Google-followers and after a while I deleted all. After school, I decided to live in London for a while and I met a lot of friends in fashion like bloggers. I thought, I should open a blog again and that is what I did ... in March 2011 I opened The FashionRobot. 

Where do you search and find your sources of inspiration? 

I'm inspired every time when I walk around London. London is an amazing place to get new inspirations because you have so much different people, arts, crazy places and good music. I also get inspired when I travel. I love to travel because I like to see new places and to be acquainted with different cultures. 

Describe your style! 

I would describe my style as relaxed glamour with a fun bohemian rocky twist. I personally like it simple (little black dress, jeans, simple shirts) and colourful (flower prints, neon, bright colours). I love to wear simple clothes together with eye catchers like shoes or accessories. My key looks are jeans, blazer/vest, a simple shirt with Chucks or high heels or a flower hippie dress with sandals. 

Your motivation to keep blogging? 

First of all my followers and the fact that I will work in fashion PR in my future. 

Your trend prediction for S/S 2012? 

My personal trend for S/S 2012 is neon! I also like printed jeans, leggings and chinos (for example with flower prints).

What do you suggest to new bloggers? 

Be yourself! 

Your favourite shopping places in London? 

My favourite shopping places in London are Shorditch, Brick Lane, Covent Garden, Camden Town and all the markets like Portobello Market. 

How do you feel about German fashion? 

Oh, that's a tricky one. I mean you can't compare German fashion with London fashion. German fashion is generally more reserved, simple and mainstream. To be honest, I like it to wear simply clothes but I also like it to be different and creative and German is often all the same. Every country is different. 

Your future plans? Something connected to the fashion industry?

I started to study Business Administration this year and I will definitely work in fashion PR and management. I'm going to do an internship in fashion in August and I will surely keep bloggging. ;)

Quillings & Stripes

My last day before Easter break officially started? Doing the last bits on my essays that needed to be done by then (pain in the ass), having a small but successful retail therapy and packing up all my stuff to fly home.

I felt like going for some other summer pieces, that's why I decided to finally get out my striped cardigan with its golden buttons and the playful quillings. As one would rarely find my in something that has such details, my love to this jacket is strong enough to break the habits. Actually, I went for a quite innocent/sweet/mary-had-a-little-lamb way of combining this jacket when curling my hair, pulling that Vintage hair band (which I bought together with its black sister, that I wore here) and going for some rather low keyed accessories. All of these clothes haven't been worn in forever (at least it feels like this) and I was surprised of how I could forgotten to take them out last year. I guess there are these phases and times when you're just not into certain items and you prefer to let them partially die in your closet than bring them back  to life. With this re-animation, I felt absolutely comfortable, not least because these trousers were one of my favourites back in the days and the flats are beyond comfiness.
