Flowers & Corals

With the flower pattern trend reaching up to the peak this season, I couldn't help but to improvise it myself. Although I'm a little more careful since I still couldn't find any floral mix that I'd love to have all over my legs, top or anywhere else, I remembered this jacket I used to love when I was about 14. Once belonging to my mum, I never stopped simply adoring it for its material and the way it was designed. Velvet (one of the chicest and comfortable components you could get for a blazer) and another way of letting flowers decorate the piece make it unique and meanwhile add the typical Paul Smith twist to it. Being famous for his colourful designs, Smith has done an absolutely chic way of predicting and transforming an up-and coming trend. Although one most probably doesn't find me in such colours quite often, I still like this compostion. Coral is one of my absolute evergreenes and shows that soft tone, which the current pastel-colour-thing tries to do so hard. As some might have recognised, I did this post about the whole pastel hype and how much I just don't get the intention of some girls wearing it (to get a long story short: Super pale girls like me should stay away from pastels). However, and as already mentioned in the pastel-post, I additionally remembered my old sweater (which I fondly described as that kind of colour I get during turbulences in a plane), which just perfectly matches to same greenish-grayish kind of the flowers on Smith's jacket. I can't clearly describe this kind of colour but to let it sound a little more fashionable and charming I'd call it a slight wannabe-pastel-but-remaining-low-keyed-and-NOT-candy-glossy-looking green. Perfectly matching to the coral, I combined these beautiful earrings made of corals, I just recently purchased.

Fashiolista Loves

Since I've been just recently writing a guest post (which I will share the moment it's published), I came to the idea to share my loves and wishes on Fashiolista. A-Morir shades...to die for!

I randomly clicked myself through Luisa Via Roma when I came across these crazy, amazing shades  as my interest always takes the path of outstanding, interesting things that you rarely (if not on Anna Dello Russo) see on other people.

And so here we are with another example of an amazing head interpreting the everyday-life-wear into something special. Something, that surely catches everyone's eye yet builds an exceptional look. Playful, overloaded with pearls or flowers and crowned with Swarovski stones, skulls, feathers or oversized rivets, designer Kerin Rose always seems to be full of creativity that brings the normal sunglasses one is used to wear into another light. Always with a hint of rock'n'roll, Kerin is said to refer to her time studying classical music as a child and combining this to her love for rock.

Founded in 2008 with a capsule collection of four frames, A-Morir has been commissioned by contemporary artists and stars. From Lady Gaga (how could it be different!?), Tyra Banks, Snoop Dogg and Grace Jones to Rihanna, Fergie and Nicki Minaj - it seems as pretty much everyone has been falling in love with Kerin's designs before I did (shame on me). Naming her models after her favourite composers (therefore having this component of her love for music in each of them) gives each piece an individual feeling, makes a statement and pretty much goes for the in your face look. Well, indeed. Looking at all of these handcrafted beauties and superstars just doesn't do it different than forcing others to look in your face. 

Going "big, hard and far" is definitely out of question with these babes.

My last day before Easter break officially started? Doing the last bits on my essays that needed to be done by then (pain in the ass), having a small but successful retail therapy and packing up all my stuff to fly home.

I felt like going for some other summer pieces, that's why I decided to finally get out my striped cardigan with its golden buttons and the playful quillings. As one would rarely find my in something that has such details, my love to this jacket is strong enough to break the habits. Actually, I went for a quite innocent/sweet/mary-had-a-little-lamb way of combining this jacket when curling my hair, pulling that Vintage hair band (which I bought together with its black sister, that I wore here) and going for some rather low keyed accessories. All of these clothes haven't been worn in forever (at least it feels like this) and I was surprised of how I could forgotten to take them out last year. I guess there are these phases and times when you're just not into certain items and you prefer to let them partially die in your closet than bring them back  to life. With this re-animation, I felt absolutely comfortable, not least because these trousers were one of my favourites back in the days and the flats are beyond comfiness.

Salzburg Easter Festival: Robert Schumann Concert

The most touching concert I was ever able to experience. I can't even tell exactly why but there were these deeply emotional moments I just felt goose humps all over my arms. Conducted by Sir Simon Rattle (just like Carmen), Nachtlied op. 108 was composed by German pianist Robert Schumann. 

Schumann is one of the greatest representatives of the Romantic era and this clearly reflects in his works. 

Time literally flew by. I couldn't believe when everything was over after two hours of beautiful music. 

Today is the very last day and I will attend a concert by van Beethoven, again conducted by Rattle. I'm definitely looking forward (and already know what I'm going to wear - something, which freaked me out the last days ;)). 

For Schumann's concert, I chose my very first more elegant dress. I received it when I was 15 and can still remember the disaster in one of Selfridges' cabins. I wanted this dress so badly and I was just too small for it. No problem for Daddy Cool, who remembered the possibility to shorten it (wow something I didn't even think of at all at that moment) and from that on it was mine. I love it with all my heart since I wore it for so many special occasions... and it seems as if it is as timeless as a dress could be. Very young but still understatement. This time, I didn't go for my signature red lips but for a slightly warmer tone. This berry colour builds a completely new contrast to my skin and the black outfit. The earrings are secretly my mum's and were just exceptionally given to me for this event (Mum, they're still alive, I didn't loose them & you can relax now).
